Hello Fellow DeKalb County Republicans,

For the past few weeks, the world has watched in disbelief at the collapse of Afghanistan and thirteen young heroes coming home in flag draped coffins – all but one too young to remember 9/11. Our so-called “Commander-in-Chief” is so adamant to declare a hollow victory for America’s Longest War but in the process has botched an evacuation that has stranded hundreds of Americans behind enemy lines, abandoned over 80,000 Special Visa Holders, left dozens of U.S. Military contract working dogs to be tortured and killed as well as weaponized terrorists by giving them billions of dollars in state-of-the art military equipment.

It has been reported by Congressman Austin Scott (GA-8) that it appears that only about 15,000 of the 117,000 evacuated were Afghans with Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) and Americans. “Even if
you double the Biden Administration’s numbers – and I expect them too – 70% of evacuees were not Americans or SIV holders. I do not understand how so many who were not SIV holders or
Americans got out and how so many Americans and SIV holders were left behind,” stated Congressman Scott.

As this war comes to an end, the DeKalb Republican Party honors the men and women in uniform from every corner of our country who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Let us remember that 2,443 American service members have died in operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel. More than 3,800 U.S. contractors and Defense Department civilians have also been killed. At least 47,000 Afghan citizens, and about 66,000 Afghan military and police members, died, as well as 1,144 Allied Troops. We also honor our American warriors who returned home with injuries both seen and unseen. Over 30,000 active-duty personnel and war veterans of post-9/11 conflicts are estimated to have died by suicide—four times the number that died in combat.

What is unforeseen is the impact of the Biden/Harris Administration failed policies of putting American Lives Last as it is very likely that a new war on terror in already in the works – one that will once again, after two decades, return to our homeland. Time will tell but I anticipate that Joe Biden’s legacy will go down in infamy and will show him as the most incompetent, inconsiderate, and immoral president in American history. God bless our American heroes and the Gold Star Families that have made the greatest sacrifice. May God Bless America.

With Best Regards,
Marci McCarthy
