DeKalb was the Firewall that Stopped Stacey and Rehired Governor Kemp!

I am so proud of the DeKalb GOP! Despite being the second bluest county in Georgia, we did #VoteDeKalbRed! We held the line and were the firewall that stopped Stacey. Due to our slate of 17 candidates and the efforts put forth by #TeamDeKalbGOP, we increased Republican voter turnout by 11 percent in the Governor’s Race from 2018 to 2022 in DeKalb County. (Our goal was 10% and we moved the needle 11%). We reduced the number of votes by 20,000 for Stacey Abrams and increased Governor Brian Kemp’s scorecard by 5,500 votes with a net gain of over 25,500 votes. If metro Atlanta was going to carry Abrams, it would have had to produce another 300,000 or so votes for her, net. To get there, Democrats would have somehow had to get the same number of people to vote in the metro area as voted in the presidential election, without triggering the rest of the state to do the same.  But Democrats in DeKalb couldn’t cross the finish line first after a year of pomp and circumstance playing in Stacey Abrams’ wake.  (Or should I say woke?).  For the first time in decades, we challenged the Democrats, put forth formidable opponents and made them work harder in a place that they thought was their Blue Wall.  Georgia is a red state and we will prove that again on December 6th.

Republicans are uniting like never before to evict Raphael Warnock and to elect Herschel Walker as Georgia’s U.S. Senator.  Remember to turn this election into a victory – we need everyone to VOTE for Herschel Walker!

Finally, please join us on December 10 for the DeKalb GOP Holiday Breakfast. I look forward to hosting a Fireside Chat “Reflections, Revelations and Resolutions” with Janelle and Kelvin King.  Thank you!

With Best Regards,

Marci McCarthy, Chairman
DeKalb County Republican Party
