November 22, 2023

As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, let’s reflect on the values that unite us as Americans – gratitude for our freedoms, appreciation for our shared opportunities, and a commitment to the principles that make our nation strong.

Rarely do we have the time in our everyday lives to step back and reflect on life’s countless blessings especially with the world being in turmoil and our country being so divided instead of united. As Americans, we have much to be grateful for – and we must remember to give thanks to the men and women of our military who are fighting right now for our freedoms overseas and to our first responders……many of whom will be unable to celebrate Thanksgiving with loved ones at home. Let’s also rejoice at the news of a forthcoming release of some hostages – including innocent women and children.  And please pray for the safe return of all the remaining hostages and for their reunification with their families as well as for the thousands of lives lost.

While we pray for those not with us at our own holiday gatherings, let us also keep in mind those who are struggling and in need during this holiday season.  Probably, even more so with the hangover of Bidenflation which saw the lingering financial and psychological effects of the worst bout of inflation in four decades.  Additionally, many goods and services are still far pricier than they were just three years ago and are still rising. While the American Farm Bureau Annual Survey shows the Thanksgiving dinner costs down from 2022, it still can’t be ignored that it is 30% higher compared to 2020 when President Trump was in office. We cannot ignore that these hardships are because of a failed Biden agenda that puts Americans last and why Americans feel gloomy about the economy. This will be essential as we pivot towards the 2024 Presidential Elections.

As you spend time with loved ones over these next few days and regardless of your differences, remember the things that make this country the greatest of all countries. But while we say give thanks, now is not the time to take our pedal off the metal. It is time to gear up for 2024 as momentum is on our side and the wind is in our sails. We are more organized than ever through our GOTV Initiatives, Precinct Development Programs, growth in membership and fundraising efforts.  We are also fighting to ensure FITness – Faith, Integrity and Trust in our elections.

As Thanksgiving is here, it is imperative that we all make our plan to vote in any of the Municipal Election Run-Offs and to ensure that our friends and family are doing the same. Please take a few moments in the next few days to reach out to friends and family to make sure they are aware of their voting options and deadlines for the Municipal Run-Off Elections and the upcoming 2024 Presidential Elections. If your college kids are home than please consider voting together and then enjoy a football game or find that bargain door buster!

If you are going to be out of town over the holidays and unable to vote early or on December 5th, please request your absentee ballot now as the application deadline is Monday, November 27! The safest bet it to return it to an early voting location if you are out of town on December 5th

Thanksgiving is also always a time to show gratitude and to recognize the efforts and contributions of those around us. To our dedicated volunteers, members, donors, investors and poll watchers, thank you for your unwavering commitment to the DeKalb GOP.  We are the strongest organization in decades and will #VoteDeKalbRed.

Please mark your calendars to join us at the DeKalb GOP Holiday Breakfast to be held on December 9thwhere we will have Georgia State Senator Shawn Still as our featured speaker.   And please join us at the DeKalb GOP Holiday Party on December 21.  We kindly ask that you RSVP here to ensure enough food and cheer for all!

On behalf of The DeKalb Republican Party and from our family to yours, we wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

With Best Regards,

Chairman, DeKalb Republican Party
