As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month – honoring the rich contributions of Hispanic Americans who have shaped our nation’s culture, economy, and spirit of resilience – we’re reminded of the shared values of family, faith, and freedom that unite us all. This month also marks the return of Columbus Day, a day President Trump rightfully restored to celebrate exploration and opportunity. And in a moment of profound hope, we give thanks for the recent U.S.-brokered peace agreement in Israel, which includes the release of all remaining hostages from Gaza.  This will reunite families after years of heartache and pave the way for lasting stability in the region. These milestones inspire us to build bridges, embrace American history, and pursue peace through strength.

With early voting beginning October 14, the November 4 Municipal General/Special Election season is in full swing! Many DeKalb residents may not realize the impact of these races, but they’re crucial for our wallets and way of life. Be a VOTE MULTIPLIER: Chat with friends, family, and neighbors about supporting Republican Public Service Commission candidates Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson. If Democrats gain control of our power grid, expect $800+ annual hikes in electric bills and setbacks in expanding capacity for the AI arms race – we can’t afford to lose either race.

Local decisions hit closest to home, so don’t overlook the municipal races. Our 2nd Vice Chair, Bonnie Chappell, and her team have spent countless hours curating key candidate info.  Email her at 2ndViceChair@DeKalbGOP.org for her detailed spreadsheet.

On a related note, I want to update you on our election integrity efforts. The DeKalb GOP’s state-court challenge against insecure voting equipment was dismissed on nebulous “standing” grounds, limiting political parties’ ability to sue. Without funds for an appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court, we’ve let the deadline pass quietly. While disappointing, this fuels our resolve: We’re now pursuing federal avenues, including a petition to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and advocating with the Blue-Ribbon Study Committee for modern, secure reforms like paper-based systems.  With Liberty Vote’s recent acquisition of Dominion Voting Systems, the election landscape is evolving swiftly, and we hope these changes strengthen the integrity and security of our voting process.
